Ana studied video production at the Gulf Islands Film and Television School and further honed her skills through numerous workshops offered by CineVic, an artist-run film Co-op in Victoria, British Columbia.

Her short film In Control won the Jury Prize for "Best Children's Film" at the 2008 Commffest Film Festival in Toronto, and is also an official selection for the 2008 Vancouver Asian Film Festival.

Her anti-racism visual poem, First Winter Last screened at the 2008 Montreal World Film Festival and has been short-listed for the 2008 Radio Canada International's Migr@tions Competition.

Ms de Lara was born in the Philippines in 1967 and immigrated to Canada at seven years of age. Her passion for filmmaking evolved from working as an actor and as an acting instructor for the film and television industry. She currently resides in Victoria where she teaches acting for the Screen Actors Studio and holds the position on the Cinevic Board of Directors as their President.

Brad Pozin

Brad is an accomplished classical pianist who studied other styles of music at Selkirk College under the guidance of Don Macdonald, Gilles Parenteau, and Paul Landsberg. He has composed and played for numerous theatre and film productions in Victoria. He has also performed with Bill Henderson of the band Chilliwack and was a member of the hip-hop band, Better Rhetoric, for several years.

Mark Borowski
Director of Photography

Mark is a filmmaker/cinematographer hailing from Manitoba. He earned a diploma in Film Studies from SAIT in Calgary and has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from Brandon University. He is very active in the filmmaking community as a director, cinematographer, and teacher.

Chad Gottfried
Editor, Animator, Special FX

Chad has been working in television as an editor and cameraman for 15 years. He first became a member of Cinevic in the mid 90's then moved to Calgary and became a member of Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (C.S.I.F.) where he made an award winning short film Bicyclitis.

Ethan Pauly
Young Boy

In Control is Ethan’s first role in a film. He was six years old at the time of filming and writing his own bio:

Ethan loves soccer, elephants, ballet, and playing with his friends. He has performed in two White Space Dance Productions. He plans to be an actor and get a PhD in Science. His favourite movie is Star Wars and he looks forward to becoming a Jedi warrior. His birthday is in November and he loves snowy weather.

Laura Hope

Raised in the interior of British Columbia, Laura moved to Victoria to complete a BA at the University of Victoria. She “accidentally fell into acting” in the summer of 2007, when close friends gave her a small role in their feature production. She is studying at the Screen Actors Studio and has plans to pursue an acting career.

Mike Sudar

In 2002, Mike was introduced to the local movie scene as a background performer and was inspired to take acting classes. He landed a leading role as the Minister of Industry in a local soap opera pilot, Mile Zero. Presently a BC Public Service employee and proud father with a wide array of talents, Mike has enjoyed international underground success since the mid 80's performing with the heavy metal bands Armoros, Strapping Young Lad, and Sonic Doom.
